Love my new Nakiri!

Consistent quality as always

This is my third order from Shan Zu. I grabbed the Couteau Kiritsuke this time. Just like my previous Couteau de cuisine japonais and the Ciseaux de cuisine, the quality is consistent. The knife came sharp and the finish is excellent. I keep coming back because I know what to expect – good products that last. Good quality, delivery could improve

I purchased the Couteau Santoku and a Pierre à aiguiser. The knife itself is really well-made, felt balanced in my hand and cut through vegetables like butter. The sharpening stone worked perfectly too. My only minor gripe was the delivery, it took about 8 days to reach my address in California, which felt a bit long compared to other online stores. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the tracking, so that was a plus. Overall, a solid purchase for the price, but they could probably speed up shipping.

I bought their sharpening stone, and it works great. There are also tons of videos online for how to use it with Damascus knives. Never sent them in for service though.

I just use my own sharpening steel from them. It keeps the edge pretty well. Haven't tried any professional services, I just maintain them myself.

They're not actually made in Japan, if that's what you mean. They're more 'Japanese style' knives, but from what I understand, they're manufactured in China with good quality control.

No, they're not Japanese origin, but they use the Japanese Damascus steel technique. Don't let that put you off though, they're really good for the price point.

I have a couple of their Damascus knives, and they're really sharp and hold an edge well. For the price, I'd say they stack up pretty well against the big names, maybe not quite the same fit and finish as a super high-end Shun but very solid.

They do free shipping on orders over 50 euros, if I remember correctly. So if your Santoku is less than that, you might have to add something small to hit the threshold.
